Myths about Hypnosis
Look into my eyes...not around my eyes IN my
eyes.........AND back in the room!

Remember this from ‘Little Britain’?
Do
you think of TV or Paul McKenna when someone mentions
hypnosis? Have you ever tried it and thought - it doesn't
work, I wasn't‘under’at any time? Or are you worried that
you are going to be pretending to be a chicken or giving
away all sorts of information that is personal to you? Do
you worry that you might not remember what happened?
I can assure you that
none
of this will happen! The TV and Stage hypnosis that you
have seen is
nothing
like the experience you will have during
HypnoBirthing®
classes.
MYTH
BUSTER 1: Hypnosis is purely a state of deep
relaxation.
That is all. You are completely aware of your surroundings
and what is going on around you. In fact sometimes you are
more aware than you are normally. When you come out of deep
relaxation, you can remember everything that happened
during your relaxation.
MYTH
BUSTER 2: You are in complete control.
Not
even Paul McKenna can make someone do something they do not
want to do. Despite what you have seen on TV, a person
always has a choice and can decide to come out of hypnosis
if they wish.
MYTH
BUSTER 3: Hypnosis is the same as having a daydream or
being engrossed in a book or a film. Everyone goes into
hypnosis everyday.
Have
you ever cried or laughed during a film? Or been thinking
so much about something that you missed your exit on the
motorway? Have you ever been so relaxed just before falling
asleep that when someone speaks to you all you can be
bothered to do is grunt or murmur an answer? Then you have
been in an hypnotic state of mind - EVERYONE can do
it!
