Are there any side effects to Hypnosis?
Yes! And they are all good ones - enhanced immune function, increased feelings of well being, more energy, lowered stress levels, release of fear and improved sleep!

I'm not sure I believe in hypnosis and my partner is really sceptical!
That is great news! HypnoBirthing practitioners love to hear this - as the bigger the sceptic, the more enthusiastic they are about HypnoBirthing when they see the results. Why not call or arrange a preliminary meeting with me and I will answer any questions you have.

What role will my partner have?
Your partner will have a very important role in the birth of your baby - specific massage techniques, helping to deepen mum's level of relaxation, confidently communicating with health professionals and keeping the birth environment calm and relaxed.

Does my partner have to attend?
The courses are designed for couples, although this doesn't have to be your partner - it could be someone you would like to be present at the birth. If you don't have a birthing partner or if your birthing partner cannot attend some of the classes, this doesn't have to be a barrier.

Will I have a pain free birth?
No-one can promise you this. The success of the technique depends on the amount you practice teaching your body and mind to relax. Current research show that 65-70% of HypnoBirthing mums have no need for pain relief, and 20-25% use only milder forms.

What is the difference between HypnoBirthing and other hypnosis for childbirth courses?
HypnoBirthing - The Mongan Method is a trademark registered company. It's philosophy is to concentrate on eliminating the Fear-Tension-Pain cycle through teaching relaxation, self-hypnosis, massage techniques, discussion, videos of birthing, full inclusion and roles for the birth companion. The method has been proven time and time again over the past twenty years. Other methods, such as 'hypno-birth','natal hypnosis' etc are often based on controlling pain and the ante-natal education is not always of the same standard. So ‘Demand the Original - Expect the best’ For more information see www.hypnobirthing.co.uk.

Why shouldn't I just buy the book or some CD's and do it myself at home?
A book or CD will not take your calls or answer your e-mails when you need to talk with someone or have someone answer your questions. A book or CD won't help you deal with any fears you have regarding childbirth or know if you need extra help in that area. It won't be able to demonstrate the techniques you need or explain anything you don't quite understand.......

Why should I pay for Hypnoirthing classes when I can get NHS classes for free?
A very good question! However, the classes given by the NHS are very limited, can have over 15 sets of parents at a time and are very much restricted by NHS protocols. They educate on what drugs are available to help you 'cope with the pain' & what happens when things go wrong. In actual fact, they teach you to expect the worst, so that if you manage a normal birth - you are surprised and treat it as a bonus! HpynoBirthing will teach you about each stage of childbirth, how your body works with you to birth your baby, how you can help your body to achieve this and how NORMAL the process is!
